About

I’m an expert-level professional in the areas of large-scale K-12 assessment and proposal writing. Over the past eight years, I’ve written more than 80 proposals to federal agencies, state education departments, and local school districts in the United States. I’ve worked in large-scale assessment since 2001 and my experience includes both content development and project management. I started out as a high school math teacher.

I started this blog in 2009, then took a hiatus from 2014 to 2023. Over the years I’ve written about assessment, education, mathematics, leadership, and my faith. My mission is to help educators understand how large-scale assessments are developed and how to use the resulting data to improve student achievement.
