4th of July 2010 PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 11 July 2010 07:53

This year we spent the fourth of July with my dad and stepmom. We always have a good time when we travel to Hamilton for the fourth and this year was no exception. I think the highlight for Sarah was her ride in the deuce -n- a half.

Here are some pictures from our trip. They are on Picasa again, so if you click on the slideshow you'll be able to see enlargements on Picasa.

Somersworth Storm at District Meet PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 11 July 2010 07:03

On July 8 and 10 the U10 Somersworth Storm participated in the Babe Ruth Softball District 3 tournament in Chichester, NH. The team lost three tough games to Dover, Rochester, and Barrington. The team showed great improvement over the three games and did very well. The Storm will travel to Litchfield in two weeks for the last tournament of the season.

We forgot to take the camera to the district tournament. However, I haven't posted many of the softball pictures that we have. So, here they are! I posted these using Picasa. If you click on the slideshow you will be taken to the Picasa Web Album. You'll be able to see the full-size pictures there.

Somersworth Storm Day 01 PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 13 June 2010 08:05

Yesterday Sarah’s all-start softball team, the Somersworth Storm, participated in its first tournament of the summer. After traveling two hours to Newport, NH the team played three consecutive games. The Storm started with a game against Rochester, NH. (Why travel two hours to Rochester – they’re the next town up the road from Somersworth?) The Storm picked up an 11-8 win against their neighbors. In the second game, the Storm lost a heartbreaker to Merrimack. The final score was 24 to 6. The Storm bounced back strong in game 3, beating host Newport (CVSA) 10 to 9 with a loud home-team crowd on hand.

Sarah struck out once and walked seven times in the three contests. She didn’t score on the day. She also played some good defense, splitting time between center and right field.

Today (June 13, 2010) the Storm start the day playing Suncook at 1:00 p.m. The top four teams (out of five) advance to championship games at 3:00 p.m. The weather calls for more rain today and perhaps a passing thunderstorm. Hopefully the weather will hold out as the folks in Newport look to put this tournament into the books.

Basement Flooding, March 2010 PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 21 March 2010 19:22

A week has passed since water first appeared in our basement. Looking back, I think the issue for us was not so much how much water came in but how unprepared we were. This past week I've heard all sorts of stories about people having to deal with a lot more water. Most New Englanders are prepared for water. We were not. We had boxes on the floor. We had dirty laundry on the floor. So when the water started seeping in we had to act quickly or lose various sorts of valuable treasure. Now, we're ready!
